James Purnell “Tree” Hamilton, 56, of Concordia, KS, and previously of Dallas, TX, and Atlantic City, NJ, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, May 9, 2020, at Salina Regional Hospital. He was born September 22, 1963 in Vinland, New Jersey, to Gyrene (Tennant) and James Purnell Williams Sr.
Tree was trained as a chef and loved to cook for people. He was a good man, hard worker and would help anyone in need. He loved music and to sing, and especially loved his family.
Members of the family include: his wife, Tonya (Fraser) Hamilton; son, Rasheens Byrd, and a special young lady that he raised as his daughter; grandkids, King, Beautiful and Gorgeous; siblings, Joanne Spratley, Denise, Toni Hamilton, Tina Hamilton-Banks (David), Lilian Hawkins, Nan Peterson, Chris Moore-Lee, Johnny, Alex, Voetta and Rozey Moore, Howard, Antoine and Delmar Hamilton; step-siblings, Debbie Powers, Sharon Williams, Rosie Clemens, John Williams, James, Greg and Anthony Clemens; sister from another mother, Sharon Dews; special aunt, Helen Tennant; and mother-in-law, Shirley. He was preceded in death by his parents and his first wife Stella King Hamilton.
Mr. Hamilton will be laid to rest following a graveside funeral service at 11 a.m., Friday, May 22, at Lincoln Memorial Park, Mays Landing, NJ.
