Jareta Lou Peck was surrounded by family when she passed away on Wednesday, October 18th, 2023, in Salina, Ks, at the age of 90.
Jareta was born in Amherst, Texas, on September 18th, 1933. She met the love of her life, Rex Peck, and they were married in Huntsville, AR on June 29th, 1953.
Through their 70 years of wedded bliss, Jareta’s most treasured memories were made up of being a homemaker for Rex and their five girls. Jareta was a loving mother, active in Girl Scouts, coaching in bowling, and always being there to show her support for her daughters.
Jareta spent her spare time as the Editor for the Assaria newspaper, and after the girls left home, she worked at Dillard’s. After retirement, Jareta was able to travel with Rex. They enjoyed trips to Hawaii and the infamous Clarke Sander’s Baseball trips which they attended together with friends for many summers. When they weren’t traveling you could find her playing Bingo, which she took very seriously.
As time and health allowed, Jareta loved supporting and spending as much time as she could with her 12 grandchildren and 18 great grandchildren. The love she had for her grandchildren, and great grandchildren, was immeasurable. What a proud wife, mother, and grandmother she was, she loved the family she had created!
Earlier this year Jareta became a resident of the Holiday Resort Health & Rehab of Salina, as well as Interim Healthcare. On behalf of the family, a special thank you to both agencies for the kindness, loving care and friendship so freely given to our wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother. Her family also extends gratitude to the iHop staff who gave her and Rex so much love and joy over the years.
