Jerry Morton, born June 22, 1945 in Obion County, Tennessee, and passed away July 27, 2023.
Jerry moved from Arkansas to Kansas at young age. While in Tennessee, Jerry worked at Myers Bakery before moving to Arkansas, then later residing in Kansas where he worked for multiple companies, such as Tony’s Pizza Service in the maintenance department & Holiday Mansion, where he personally helped build a custom boat for Willie Nelson. After leaving Holiday Mansion, Jerry worked for many other companies in the maintenance field.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Marcia Morton and 4 children, Dee Morton Ring (Tom Ring), Charlotte Morton Richardson, Stephanie Morton Arnold (Neal Arnold), Jerry Nathan Morton (Amanda Morton). Jerry is also survived by a brother Thomas Morton. Grandchildren: Melissa, Nic (Sara Robbins), Victoria, Kevin, Devin, Timara, Derek, Slade, Tanisha, Katelynn, Brenda, Hailey, Nathanial. Great-grandchildren: Oliva, Tiras, Tirae’q, Abby, Marci, August, Jazariah, Vivian, Geneva & Annie. Step-Children: Chris Bunting (Amy Bunting), Amy Bunting. Step-grandchildren: Dustin, Kylie, Makayla, Tyshawn. Step-great-grandchildren: Jackson (Papa’s little helper) & Maddox.
Jerry was preceded in death by his parents, Rudy & MaryRae. Brothers: Troy Morton, Leonard Morton & sisters: Arcol Hampton, Alice Tolley, Hattey Tolley, Sarah Kelsey, Martha Carnation, and an infant daughter, Melissa Gail Morton.
Jerry loved Motorcycles, The Kansas City Royals, Denver Broncos. Jerry’s hobbies also included: softball, bowling, fishing, Salina Speedway, camping, Demolition Derbys and he loved all of his children, biological or not.
Jerry loved traveling with his wife Marcia to Colorado & Wyoming among other states. Jerry loved the mountains as his favorite place was Colorado Springs & Pikes Peak.
Jerry absolutely adored his fur babies, Mohrie, Harley & Farley.
Family would like to recognize the entire staff at Gentiva Hospice of Salina, who treated & cared for Jerry with the utmost dignity, love & respect.
Jerry’s family will be having a Celebration of Life Service, Tuesday, August 1, 2023, at 2 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary in Salina. At Jerry’s request, “no fancy clothes” and Jerry loved the color blue.
