Jessie F. (Perry) Peterson, 98, of Salina, passed away Sat. April 4, 2020. She was born Nov. 21, 1921 in Stilwell, KS to Louis and Anna (Cole) Perry.
In 1923 the family moved to western Kansas southwest of Oakley where her father managed the Bertrand Farms. Jessie attended Monument High School and then graduated from Bethany College with a music degree. She married Rolland E. Peterson at Salemsborg Lutheran Church July 28, 1946 upon his return from the Pacific Theater of World War II. They resided in Salina since 1946.
Jessie taught elementary and secondary school music for several years. She was a member of honor organizations Sigma Alpha Iota( music) and Alpha Delta Kappa (education). She was a long term contributing member of International Federation of Women’s Clubs, Treble Clef Music Club and Salina Symphony Guild. Jessie was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church for over 60 years.
Survivors include a sister, Eloise Dale (Ken); son James E. Peterson (Tandis); daughter, Judy A. Peterson (Frank Gersich) and seven grandchildren, Lauren Richard (Remy), Ross Peterson, Trell Grinter (Kris), Taylor Knopf (Jay), Tyler Peterson, Karl Wenzel, and Sara Riley (Andrew); great-grandchildren, Anne Marie and Margot Lisette Richard.
A private graveside service will be held at Salemsborg Lutheran Cemetery.
