Joan A. Morgan, age 87, left this earthly life on Thurs., Nov. 29, 2018 at Mt. Joseph Senior Community, Concordia, KS. She was born on April 23, 1931 in Jamestown, Kansas to Hubert P. & Ruth E. (Nelson) Spear.
Joan was a 1947 graduate of Belleville High school. Joan worked for Fairmont Creamery in Concordia, Kansas. She married Lyle L. Morgan on June 9, 1951 at Camp Attebury, Indiana. He preceded her in death on Oct. 24, 2017. She was a homemaker and farm wife. Joan was active in the HDU, 4-H, School & Conservation Board, Trinity UMC, taught Sunday School for many years, Cloud County Historical Society and Optimist Club.
She enjoyed sewing, cooking and had the honor of teaching many 4-H girls how to bake bread.
She is survived by her daughters; Barbara Shunn (Marvin), Concordia & Cathy Spangler (Calvin), Abilene; 2 grandsons, Lee Dunlap (Erika), Wamego, KS.; Duncan Spangler, Abilene, KS.; 2 great-grandsons, Sabre Dunlap, Deshler, NE.; Brandon Dunlap, Seward, NE., sister, Sharon Kay Isaacson, Safford, AZ.; brother-in-law and sister-in-law Mark and Dorothy Morgan, Concordia, KS.; in-laws, Merle and Irene VanLaningham, Lee and Pauline Slusser, & several nieces & nephews & a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Lyle; her parents Hubert and Ruth.
Funeral services will be at 10:30 am, Sat., Dec. 1, 2018 at the Trinity United Methodist Church, Concordia, Kansas with Pastor Bob Burns & Pastor Scott Tempero officiating. Burial will follow at Hollis Cemetery, Hollis, Kansas. Visitation will be Friday, Nov. 30, 2018 from 1-8 pm with family greeting friends from 6-8 pm all at the funeral home.
