JoAnn D. Bell, 87, of Salina, Kan., passed away on Thursday, May 26, 2022. She was born on April 21, 1935, in Louisville, Ky., to William and Loretta (Hornung) Buehler.
JoAnn and Billie Bayard Bell were married in Kentucky and later moved their family to Salina and joined Sacred Heart Parish. While raising her four children, she obtained a bachelor’s degree in business from Marymount College in 1979.
JoAnn participated in many non-profits, such as Catholic Charities, food bank commodities, and the DARE program and camp. She was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles Auxiliary #765 since 1965, serving as Madam President (1979-80), State Madam Treasurer (1991-92), and Kansas State Auxiliary President (1999-2000). She retired from Exide after 21 years of service.
JoAnn loved her family, bingo, and Monday night poker!
Survivors include her children, Janey Wootan (David), Kevin Bell (Vickie), Billie Jo Bell, and Lisa Bell; seven grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her husband, Billie Bayard Bell.
A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 30, at the Greenville Cemetery, Niles, Kan. A Celebration of Life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice, in care of Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
