JoAnn Aills, 80, of Salina, Kan., passed away Wednesday, June 1, 2022. She was born October 3, 1941, in Beloit, Kan., to Joseph and Evelyn (Trueblood) Robb. On Feb. 14, 1959, she married Gail W. Aills at Sacred Heart Cathedral in Salina. She was the first female animal control officer in Saline County, and served from 1979, until 1991. JoAnn enjoyed traveling, reading, researching family history, and appreciated all kinds of music.
Survivors include her children, Theresa Howard (Larry), Mark Aills, Denise Metzger (David) and Patti Heiman (Ted); sister, Mary Stein (George); 11 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death in 2020 by her husband of 61 years, Gail; her parents; and her brother, Mike.
Due to the previous restrictions of the COVID-19 pandemic, the following services will celebrate the lives of both JoAnn and Gail. A visitation will be held on Tuesday, June 7, from 5-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with a rosary at 7. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 1 p.m., Wednesday, June 8, at Sacred Heart Cathedral, with burial to follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, Salina.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Salina Animal Services, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
