John Franklin Irwin Jr, 93, of Salina, stepped from this world into eternity Tuesday, Oct. 9, 2018. He was born in Garden City, April 17, 1925, to John Franklin Sr. and Lulu M. (Webb) Irwin.
John was a Navy WWII veteran, serving on a mine sweeper from 1943-46. He was a member of First United Methodist Church, Salina Coin Club, Masonic Lodge #60, Isis Temple Oriental Band, and Jesters Court #94. John was a long-time employee of Long-McArthur and considered everyone there his second family.
He is survived by: his wife of 70 years, Dona (Foss) Irwin; daughter, Janice Woods of Abilene; grandchildren, Erin Woods of Topeka, Lindsay Eddie (Rian) of Manhattan, and Tyler Woods of Carlton; great-grandchildren, Leena Dean and Carson Lynn Eddie; and many nieces, nephews and cousins.
John was preceded in death by: his parents; and daughter, Deborah “Debbie” Lynn Irwin.
Visitation will be 4-8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 14, with family present 5-7 p.m. at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 15, at First United Methodist Church, Salina, with interment in Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to: Isis Shrine Travel Fund for Children, or First United Methodist Church, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
