Karen Faye Huffman

Karen Faye Huffman, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 5, 2025, at the age of 80. Born on June 18, 1944, in Concordia, Kansas, she was the cherished daughter of Keith and Hazel Price.

Karen was a devoted partner to her husband, Hershel Huffman, whom she married on February 24, 1963, at the Evangelical United Brethren Church in Concordia. Their love story spanned over 62 years, filled with shared laughter, countless memories, and a steadfast commitment to family.

Karen dedicated her life to nurturing her family. She worked as a telephone operator and later at Franklin Grade School, where her primary goal was to be close to her four young sons: Brian Huffman (Carmen Lynch), Kraig Huffman, Jeff Huffman, and Brett Huffman (Trisha Huffman). After many years of service, she retired from USD 305, leaving a legacy of love and kindness in the hearts of everyone she encountered.

She found joy in each of her 11 grandchildren and five great-grandchildren, attending every ball game, recital, concert, or event they ever had. Her unwavering support and enthusiasm made her a pillar in their lives. She was not just a spectator but an active participant in their lives, always cheering them on and celebrating their achievements.

Karen had a passion for baseball, particularly for the Kansas City Royals. She and Hershel enjoyed many memorable baseball bus trips together, creating treasured memories along the way. Her interests extended beyond baseball; she was a collector of angels, Coca-Cola memorabilia, and all things related to “Gone with the Wind,” showcasing her eclectic taste and vibrant personality.

As a truly selfless woman, Karen made it her mission to ensure everyone around her was happy and taken care of. She possessed a unique ability to brighten anyone’s day with her warm smile and kind words, whether she knew them or not. Her friends and family will always remember her as a true blessing, whose spirit of generosity and kindness touched countless lives.

Karen was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Hazel Price, and her siblings: Norman, Richard, and Thomas Price, along with her sisters Donna Buck, Bonnie Yount, and Diane Mason. She leaves behind a legacy of love that will remain in the hearts of her family and friends.

A “Come and Go” Celebration of Life will be held at Ryan Mortuary on Saturday, March 15, 2025, from 10:00 a.m., to 12 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family, in care of Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St., Salina, KS.

The family extends special thanks to Interim Hospice for their loving care and to Ryan Mortuary for their support during this time.
