Kathy Jo (Tartar) Potts, 72, a former resident of Salina, died Tuesday, Oct. 8, 2024, after a long illness. She was residing at Mayberry Gardens, Denton, TX to be near her sister.
Kathy was born in Columbus, KS on July 31, 1952, to Ralph and Gloria (Groshong) Tarter. Kathy married Doug Potts on July 2, 1980. He preceded her in death in 2017. She is also preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Paul. She grew up in Scammon, KS area and graduated from Southeast High School, Cherokee, KS. She then attended Fort Scott Community Junior College in Fort Scott, KS. graduating in Sept. 1973. She obtained her Licensed Practical Nursing and worked at several different hospitals before joining COMCARE, comprehensive family health care, in Salina. She received recognition for 30 years of dedicated service in 2006. She retired in 2018.
Kathy is survived by a son, Brian, of McPherson, KS; daughter, Dina Hanson (Roy) of Garden Grove; CA, grandchildren, Isaac, Zoey (Potts) Barenberg, Gunner Potts and Corin and Kira Hanson; a brother, Jim Tarter (Jan) of Pittsburg, KS, and sisters, Barbara Coy (Dale) of Lake Dallas, TX, and Pauline Keal of Independence, KS; and several nieces and nephews.
Memorial services will be Saturday, Nov 2, 2024, at 1 pm at Sunrise Presbyterian Church, 825 E. Beloit, Salina, with Pastor Deb Schmidt officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Memorial Park.
