Kathy R. Gregory

Kathy Gregory, 69 of Wichita, died peacefully on June 9, 2022 from complications related to Alzheimer’s Disease.

Kathy was born Kathryn Ruth Rohrbough to Dale Rohrbough and Irene Chvilicek on September 25th, 1952 in Oakley, Kansas.

The oldest of seven children, she grew up on the family farm in Logan and Scott Counties and attended a one room country school. Later, she graduated from High School at Scott City, Kansas in 1970. She attended Colby Community College on an art scholarship graduating in 1972. She finished her bachelor’s degree in art education from Fort Hays State in 1974. She married John Gregory, a college classmate March 2, 1974 at the Basilica of St. Fidelis Catholic church in Victoria, Kansas. Her art teaching career began with the Summerfield, Axtell and Bern school district in northeastern Kansas. Later, she taught elementary and junior high art at Osborne and Alton schools for several years. After pausing to have a family of two daughters, Robin and Crystal, she finished her master’s degree and taught elementary art at Southeast of Saline Schools in Saline County. She was named the Kansas Outstanding Elementary Art Educator for the school year of 2007 – 2008 by the Kansas Art Education Association. Many adult students took college art classes from her when she taught drawing, painting, photography and pastel classes at night for Cloud County College over a period of fifteen years. 4-H members in Saline County knew her as a project leader for sketching and drawing for thirty years. The Assaria community also knew her as an active member of the Assaria Lions Club.

She is survived by her Husband, John of the home, Daughters, Robin Gregory of Oklahoma, Crystal Elliott (Nathan), their children and her grandchildren, William and Halle all of Wichita. Three sisters and two brothers also survive.

She is preceded in death by one brother.

Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Thursday, June 16th, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home and Crematory, 500 S. Ohio St., Salina, Kansas.

Funeral services will be at 10:00 am, Friday, June 17th, at the funeral home.

Graveside services will be at 2:00 pm, June 17th, at Woodston Cemetery, Woodston, Kansas.

Donations may be made to John Gregory for an art scholarship at Southeast of Saline, in care of Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home.
