Leroy Fahey Holmes, 78, of Salina, passed away Thursday, October 8, 2020. He was born July 7, 1942, in Denver, Colorado, to Darrell and Agnes (Atwell) Holmes. Lee graduated from Utica High School and Fort Hays State University. He worked as a teacher and a coach for many, many years. In his free time he enjoyed gardening, woodworking, participating in Salina Senior Games, and watching/attending sporting events especially those with his grandchildren.
Leroy is survived by his children, Kristi Pike (Sean) of Salina, and Reed Holmes (Debi), of Denver; grandchildren, Ivan, Alyssa, Jeffery, Nathan, Erica, Brandon, Dustan (Mya), Tyler (Kristi), and Salena; great-grandchildren, Dakota, Kaleb, Elizabeth, Charlotte, Marcus, Adelynn, Kassandra and Sydney; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his wife Janet, of 54 years; his parents; sister Carol and her husband Julian McEwen.
Visitation will be 5-8 p.m. with family present 6-8 p.m. Friday, October 23, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina.
Funeral service will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, October 24, 2020 at Belmont Boulevard Christian Church, Salina, internment will follow in Gypsum Hill Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Belmont Boulevard Christian Church or Kansas Children’s Service League, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
