Linnie (Laird) Winters

Linnie (Laird) Winters, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away on June 21, 2024. Born on August 23, 1948, to Carl E. (Andy) Laird and Betty (June) Laird, Linnie lived a life of dedication, love, and service.

Linnie retired from the Topeka Police Department in 2006 after a 27-year career, where she served with distinction and unwavering commitment.

Linnie is survived by her husband of 41 years, Rodger E. Winters, who stood by her side with love and support throughout their journey together. She is also survived by her children, Paul Winters, and Kimberly Parker, as well as her granddaughters, Ashley Humiston and Jordan Parker, their partners Jason Garwood and Matthew Krogman, and her great-grandchildren, Kynleigh, Karsyn, Jaxon, Rylee, Harper, Kyndall, and Jordan. Her family was her world, and she cherished every moment spent with them.

Linnie was a member of the Belmont Nazarene Church and attended First United Methodist Church in Salina, Kansas, Linnie’s faith was a cornerstone of her life. She moved to Salina to be closer to her great-grandchildren, embracing her role as a doting grandmother with open arms. Linnie’s generosity knew no bounds; she volunteered for Meals on Wheels, offering nourishment and companionship to those in need, and served as a mentor at local schools. Linnie’s love for animals, particularly cats, was evident in her tireless support for numerous animal organizations.

Linnie’s life will be celebrated at Ryan Mortuary & Crematory in Salina, Kansas,10:00 a.m. Friday June 28, 2024, and will be laid to rest in Meriden Cemetery in Meriden, Kansas the same day at 4:00 p.m. Her life was a testament to love, service, and generosity, and her memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew her. Her family invites all those who wish to share in the love for Linnie to attend.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Salina Animal Shelter, honoring Linnie’s lifelong passion and dedication.

Linnie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her, but her memory will live on in the hearts of her family, friends, and community. Her legacy of kindness, generosity, and dedication to helping others will continue to inspire those whose lives she touched.
