Lois Mae Elliott, 93, passed away Saturday, February 3, 2024. She was born in Salina, Kansas on September 25, 1930 to Edgar and Bertha (Armstrong) Prosise. Her father, Edgar, passed away when she was young and her mother remarried Ben Johnson, who adopted her.
She graduated from Salina High School in 1948.
On October 15, 1950, Lois married Byron J. Elliott. To that union, were born Elaine Elliott and Galen Elliott. They were married 50 years when he passed away.
Lois was a homemaker, worked as a cook at Southeast of Saline, and worked at several different post offices. She liked gardening with Byron. She volunteered at the hospital and was a lifetime member of the VFW Auxiliary, where she played bingo on Wednesday nights. She also liked to play pitch and bridge with her friends. In her free time, she enjoyed sewing and reading. She was very proud of her 5 grandsons and enjoyed watching them in sports and going to their music programs. She enjoyed watching KU Basketball and the Kansas City Royals.
Survivors include her children, Elaine Rego (Ernie) and Galen Elliott (Bonnie); grandchildren, Jason Elliott, Brian Elliott, Warren Elliott (Robin), Edward Rego (Paige); great grandchildren, Theodore and Aurora Elliott, Briley, Jayston, Kaydence, Aiden, Liam, Kaylona, and Draven Rego; several step great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Ben and Bertha Johnson; her husband, Byron Elliott; sister, Marilyn Graves; and grandson, Eric Rego.
Visitation will be held from 1:00 pm – 7:00 pm, Friday, February 9th at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina. Family will receive friends from 5:00 pm – 7:00 pm
The Funeral Service will be held at 10:00 am, Saturday, February 10th at Assaria Lutheran Church in Assaria, Kansas with Pastor Dean Apel officiating. Burial will follow at Assaria Lutheran Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the Assaria Lutheran Church or Shriners Hospitals for Children, in care of the funeral home.
