Lois Shotwell, 87, of Salina, Kansas passed away peacefully on May 28th, 2024. Lois was born on December 16th, 1936 to Paul and Vesta Stolzenburg of Clyde, Kansas. She was the youngest of five children and graduated from Clyde High School in 1955. Lois moved to Salina, Kansas where she met Thomas Shotwell of Buffalo, New York. They were married in 1957 and started a family.
Lois was a devoted mother to her two children, Kevin and Kyle. She enjoyed sewing and gardening in her free time, but her lifelong passion was singing. She was a member of the Salina Chapter of the Sweet Adelines and was a member of their quartet for many years. When her children were older, she started working for the Salina school system, where she worked for 26 years before retiring in 2001.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Thom, who passed away in 2015. Lois is survived by her son, Kevin Shotwell (Tammi) of Kansas City, Missouri, along with her grandchildren, Grace Cunningham (Ronnie) and Rose Shotwell, both of Kansas City, MO as well as her two great grandchildren, Wells and Kole Cunningham. She is also survived by her sister, Doris McCall of New Cambria, Kansas.
A private celebration of life will be held at a later date.
