Lowell Howard Delker, a lifetime member of the Salina community, passed away on March 21, 2024, in Salina, Kansas. He was born on December 30, 1948, in Salina, Kansas, to his parents Lester Delker and Dorothy Delker. Lowell was preceded in death by his father Lester, his mother Dorothy, and his sister Deanna Feltes.
Lowell is survived by his loving children, Emily DeRocco and her husband, Steven, from Virginia and Matthew Delker and his wife, Candace, from Florida. He was blessed with nine grandchildren; Markus, Jason, Cade, Laramie, Liam, Elon, Dexter, Joss, and Laura. He is also survived by his siblings Dave Delker and wife Marge of Arizona and his sister, Carol Patterson and her husband Jim, of Oklahoma.
As a Vietnam Era Veteran, Lowell served his country with honor and dedication. He worked as a carpenter and handyman. He used his skills to help those in need and was always there for family.
One of Lowell’s greatest passions was his love for American Indian history and artifacts. He would often be found walking through recently plowed fields, searching for treasures that history had left behind. His enthusiasm and dedication to preserving these artifacts were truly inspiring.
Above all, Lowell will be remembered for his kind and caring nature. He dedicated years of his life to taking care of his mother, Dorothy, until her passing in 2021. His selflessness and unwavering love for his family and community exemplified his character.
A Celebration of Life service in honor of Lowell will be held on Saturday, March 23, 2024, at 6:00 PM at Rosie’s on Iron at 125 E. Iron Ave. in Salina, Kansas. The memories and legacy of Lowell Howard Delker will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
