Marcella J. Martin, 93, of Salina, died Friday, June 5, 2020 at Presbyterian Manor where she lived for 22 years.

Mrs. Martin was born October 5, 1926 in Salina and was a lifelong resident of Salina. Marcella was a bookkeeper for several Salina businesses and then co-owned and operated Joe Martin Liquor Store for 25 years from 1962 thru 1987. She was a member of Sacred Heart Cathedral, Salina. She was a member of the Salina Country Club and Elks Club where she enjoyed playing golf and cards with her gal group for many years.

She was preceded in death by: her parents, William F. and Anna (Budke) Streckfus; husband, Joe L. Martin; son, Douglas J. Martin; sister, Mildred (Streckfus) Boyle; and brothers, Francis and Raymond Streckfus.

Marcella is survived by: her son, David and life companion Phyllis “PJ” Johnson of Salina; daughter-in-law, Bette (Steve) Kohman; three grandchildren; Michael Martin (Dee Dee) of Ft. Worth, TX, Renee Martin Kratzer (Brian) of Columbia, MO and Brian Martin (Natalie) of Norman, OK. She is also survived by nine great grandchildren, Jacob, Lucas and Ben Martin of Texas, Kedzie, Zoe, Zachary and Owen Kratzer of Missouri, and Brett and Brock Martin of Oklahoma.

The family expresses grateful thanks and appreciation to the kind staff at Presbyterian Manor for their dedication and care of Marcella.

Visitation will be 1-8 p.m., Tuesday, June 9, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N 8th St, Salina, with family greeting friends from 6 p.m. and a vigil service at 7 p.m.

Mass of Christian Burial will be 10 a.m., Wednesday, June 10, at Sacred Heart Cathedral with the Rev. Fred Gatschet officiating. Burial will be in Mount Calvary Cemetery, Salina.

Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Cathedral, Presbyterian Manor Employee Christmas Fund or Good Samaritan Fund, or charity of donor’s choice, in care of Ryan Mortuary.
