Margaret “Peg” Louise (Mohler) Schroth

Margaret Louise (Mohler) Hofer, Kelly, Schroth, 89, of Salina, Kan., passed away on December 31, 2024, at Salina Regional Health Center after a brief illness.

Peg was born February 5, 1935, to Milton and Ferne Mohler in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Milton was working for General Electric in Rio at the time. After graduating from Baker University in Baldwin Kansas, Peg married Dr. Phil Hofer. Two children, Carolyn and Paul, were born from this union.

In 1980 Peg married Jim Kelly. Jim had three daughters, Diana, Gayle and Meghan.

Peg taught ESL (English as a second language) at West High School in Wichita until she moved to Salina in 2009.

She was an inspiration and dearly loved by many, many friends of Bill W. Her friendship with Bill W. lasted almost 50 years. Peg’s inspiration and lessons will live on in the lives of others forever.

Peg enjoyed travelling. In 2011 on a trip to Ireland she met Fred Schroth. They married in

April of 2012. Fred has four children, Susan, Michele, Vickie, and Jon.

Peg was preceded in death by her parents, brother Dr. Jack Mohler, and husband Jim Kelly.

Survivors are husband, Fred Schroth, daughter Dr. Carolyn Hofer (Mark Zimmerman),

son Paul Hofer (Shannon), grandchildren: Michal Jensen (Ray), and Philip Hofer (Brooke), Ryan, Nathan and Lauren Zimmerman, sister-in-law Jean Mohler, nephew Dr. Kendall Mohler, niece Jenny (Rene) Limacher, six stepdaughters and one stepson.

Memorials may be made to the Salina Presbyterian Manor Employee Christmas Fund.

Memorial service will be held at a later date. Ryan Mortuary, Salina, is handling arrangements.
