Martha Kaufman, 90, of Moundridge, Kansas, passed away at 10:20 p.m., Wednesday, July 31st, 2019 while in the company of family members, at Pine Village.
Martha was born in on her parents farm in, McPherson County, Kansas on September 22, 1928, a daughter of Alvina (Kaufman) and Ernest Juhnke.
Martha attended the Moundridge Grade School and attended and graduated from Moundridge High School, Moundridge, Kansas in 1946.
She was a member of First Presbyterian Church McPherson, Kansas where she sang in the choir.
Through the years Martha was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner.
She was a member of the Moundridge Historical Society. Martha enjoyed singing with small ensembles with her sisters and sisters-in-law. She also enjoyed playing the piano, playing all kind of games, and listening to gospel music. She was also quite the artist, where she painted and did a lot of latch hook.
Martha Juhnke was united in marriage to Robert L. Kaufman on October 5, 1951 at Moundridge, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Belmont, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two daughters, Virginia “Ginny” and Mary. They had lived in Moundridge, Newton, Elyria and moved to McPherson in 1955. Bob died on November 15, 1999. Martha was united in marriage to Harold Vance Sales on December 25, 2007 at McPherson, Kansas. They established their first home together in Moundridge, Kansas. .
She is survived by her husband of over 11 years, Harold Sales, of Moundridge, Kansas; her daughters, Ginny Sprague and husband Paul, of McPherson, Kansas and Mary Heath and husband Steve, of Dighton, Kansas. her 3 granddaughters, Christy Tate and husband Jeff, Tracey Holler-Pitman and husband Joe and Elizabeth Heath; her 3 great-grandson, Harlan Pitman, Hiett Pitman and Logan Tate; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Robert; brothers, John, Bill, Joe, Carl, and Walter Juhnke; sisters, Marie Schrag, Alvina Neufeld, Anna Juhnke, Emma Stucky, and Elsie Graber.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, August 4, 2019 from 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at First Presbyterian Church, McPherson.
Memorial service will be held at First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, August 5th, 2019 with Reverend H. Dick Reynolds, Jr. officiating.
Final Resting Place will be at the McPherson Cemetery McPherson, Kansas.
