Martha Sophie Twaddle, 94, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 3:45 p.m., Wednesday, July 25th, 2018 peacefully, at Sandstone Heights Nursing Home, Little River, Kansas.
Martha was born in rural McClelland on her parents homestead., Iowa on April 7, 1924, a daughter of Hazel Catherine (Timm) and Henry Peter Boege.
Martha attended the Council Bluffs grade schools and graduated from Thomas Jefferson High School, Council Bluffs, Iowa in 1942.
She was a member of Church of the Brethren McPherson.
Martha was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked for Anthony’s Clotheriers, J.C. Penny’s, and the McPherson Sentinel and KNEX Radio Station as a Bookkeeper.
She was a member of the VFW & EX. P.O.W. Auxiliary, American Legion Post 24, BPW, and Sunflower EHU.
Martha enjoyed reading working puzzles, playing cards, spending time with her family and friends, was a great cook, reading, babysitting the grandkids and loved sewing .
Martha S. Boege was united in marriage to Benjamin Clark “Ben” Twaddle on February 16, 1947 at Troy, Kansas. He died on March 15, 1999. The young couple established their first home together in Council Bluffs, Iowa..
She is survived by her children Timm Twaddle and his wife Margo, of Olathe, Kansas, Dennis Twaddle, of McPherson, Kansas; Son-in-law Richard Case and his wife Kathy, of Windom, Kansas; her sisters Anna Mayberry, of Glenwood, Iowa, JoAnne Behm, of Council Bluffs, Iowa and her brother Merle Boege and his wife Fran, of Colton, Oregon.
She is also survived by 5 grandchildren – Katy Aichele & Cole Case; Kelly Flannery and her husband Mark, Kyle Twaddle and his wife Namrata and Kellie Case; 6 great-grandchildren, Jack, Soren, and Sylvia Flannery, Jai and Anjali Twaddle, and Case Aichele.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Ben Twaddle; her daughter Marty Case, her sisters, Frances Goodman and Erma Jones; and her brothers, Henry, Jr. and William Boege.
Friends are invited to call Tuesday, July 31, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas.
A funeral service will be held at 10:30 on Wednesday, August 1, 2018 at Glidden – Ediger Chapel, McPherson, Kansas with Reverend Chris Whitacre officiating.
Final resting place will be at the McPherson Cemetery, McPherson, Kansas.
