Mary Kathern (Callaway) Vandenburg, a resident of Salina, Kansas, passed away on December 28th, 2023, at the age of 72.

Mary was born to Lloyd Edgar Callaway and Stella Irene (Baker) Callaway on March 4, 1951, in Pratt, Kansas. She earned her bachelor’s degree from Emporia State University and had a brief career as a teacher in Walker, Missouri. She was also the coach of the first female basketball team at Abilene High School.

She is survived by her husband Robert (Jack) Vandenburg; her brother Bill Callaway; her son David Vandenburg and her other children, Daniel Vandenburg, Robert Jackson III, Diane Guzman, and Julia Lamas, as well as by many grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents and daughter, Sarah Irene Vandenburg.

A private burial will take place this summer in Milton, Kansas. Memorials can be sent to the family at 413 E. Minneapolis Ave, Salina, KS 67401.
