Michael F. Renk, 75, sadly left us on February 15, 2023. Mike is survived by his wife, Beatrice (Hernandez) Renk; son, Michael Renk and his wife, Ann Marie Allison of Arvada, Colorado; son, Matthew and his wife, Heather Renk of Atchison, Kansas; grandchildren, Kyler, Kaleb (Mackenzie Bogart), Jordyn, Damien, Nina Marie, Maria; and two great-grandchildren, Carter and Hadleigh. He is also survived by his brother, Francis (Tony) Renk and his wife, Cookie, of Panama City, Florida, and his twin brother, Pat Renk, of the Chicago area.
Mr. Renk was born on March 18, 1947, in Chicago, Illinois, to Francis and Catherine Renk. He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. Mike married his wife of 54 years on December 6, 1969, in Our Lady of Guadalupe Church in Salina, KS. After three years of service in the military, he received his master’s in Business in 1997 from Kansas Wesleyan University.
He worked as an accountant for Kansas Technical Institute and Kansas State University before becoming the Vice-President of Finance for North Dakota State College of Science in Wahpeton, ND.
After retirement, Mike and Bea moved back to their home in Salina, KS. He was an active member of the VFW in Salina, where he volunteered as a Quartermaster for five years. Mike was an avid golfer, playing in Salina with his golf buddies Ken Bernard and Jake Greenup and courses across the country as he traveled for work.
Interment will be at All Saints Cemetery this summer. There will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Elizabeth’s Catholic Church or The Salina Veterans of Foreign Wars.
