Murray Charles Bates, 89, of Salina, passed away Thursday, June 30th, 2022.
Murray was born in Woodson, Texas on March 18, 1933, a son of Ruth Irene (Titus) and Allen Douglas “Doug” Bates.
He served in the United States Army from 1950-1954, in the Korean War and received a Silver Star.
Murray retired from Johns Manville Manufacturing. He also worked for Woolco, Warta Buick, and owned The Bouquet Shoppe in Lindsborg, Kansas.
Survivors include his daughter, Glenda Bates (Robert “Hank” Carrera), of Brighton, Colorado; son, Jason Bates, of Salina, Kansas; grandchildren, Sarah Clark, Jordan Bates, Blaise Albers, Saralynn Schafer, Faith Bates; great grandchildren, Aspen Clark, Riley Clark, Kai Clark; and step-sister, Lori Murphy Pollick.
He is preceded in death by his parents, Ruth Bates and Doug and Juanita Bates; daughter, Shelly Bates; brothers, James Bates, Donald Bates, Douglas Allen Bates; and sister, Judy Bates.
Cremation has been chosen and no services are planned at this time.
