Myreta Mae Koehn, 78, of McPherson, KS, passed away at 2:23 P.M., Monday, September 14th, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Serenity Hospice, Newton, Kansas.
Myreta was born in McPherson, Kansas on February 24, 1942, a daughter of Ruth Josephine (Clark) and Leon Jantz.
Myreta attended Harmony Grade School and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1960.
Myreta Mae Jantz was united in marriage to Jimmie Lee Koehn on October 7, 1960 at Emanuel Mennonite Church, rural Galva, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Indianapolis, Indiana until 1962 when they moved to Galva, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a son and a daughter, Scott and Marcia. In 1981 they moved to McPherson. Jimmie died on April 11, 2020.
She was a member of New Hope Evangelical Church McPherson, Kansas and was a former member of the First Mennonite Church, McPherson.
Myreta was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. Through the years she worked for Harry Lane Supply as a bookkeeper, she began a daycare for her family and later for others, and worked as a teller for Home State Bank and Trust until her retirement.
Myreta enjoyed gospel music, was a great cook and baker, spending time with her family and going to all the children’s and grandchildren’s activities .
She is survived by her children, Scott Koehn and wife Tammy, of McPherson, Kansas, Marcia Winter, of Searcy, Arkansas and Zachary Koehn and his wife Ariel of McPherson, Kansas; her siblings, Karen Anderson and husband Andy, of McPherson, Kansas and Gary Jantz and wife Debbe, of Newton, Kansas; her three grandchildren, Stephanie Pratt, Bryce Koehn, and Zachary Koehn and wife Ariel; her six great-grandchildren, Brooklyn, Wyatt, Xvaier, Kaly, Merrick, and Makenna; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.
Myreta was preceded in death by her parents; her husband Jim Koehn; and brother Merlyn Jantz
Graveside services will be held at Emmanuel Bible Baptist Church Cemetery, rural Galva, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, September 26th, with Chaplain Linda Ewert officiating. This burial service will also include services for her husband Jim Koehn and they are being laid to rest together.
