Nancy Louise (Atteberry) Wagner

SALINA – Nancy Louise Wagner, 84, passed away Thursday, January 20, 2022 at Smoky Hill Rehabilitation Center in Salina, Ks. She was born Tuesday, January 4, 1938 in Salina, to Dee and Foi Vaile (Lichtenberger) Atteberry.

Nancy married Dennis Wagner on March 14, 1959. They had been married 36 years before he passed away on December 4, 1995. She graduated from Salina Central in 1956 and Kansas Wesleyan University in 1960. She was a sales associate at Kohl’s and Kmart, had worked as a bookkeeper for Barragree Rental and was a certified elementary and junior high public school teacher from 1973 to 1978.

She loved her family, friends, grandchildren, great-grandson, quilting, gardening, being a member of the Bluestem Daylily Society, doing jigsaw puzzles, and her many cats and dogs that she had adopted through the animal shelter and had when she was younger.

She was an amazing, kind, and friendly person with a no nonsense personality, who will be greatly and dearly missed. Everyone will cherish all their wonderful memories they had of her. She was extremely talented and made beautiful quilts that we are so fortunate to have to always remember her by. She was loving to and loved by all family and friends. There was no one else like her. She did so much for her family and we will miss her terribly. Rest in peace our precious angel.

Nancy was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis; parents, Dee and Foi Vaile Atteberry; brothers, Robert and Harold Atteberry; and grandson, Casey Jr. She was also preceded by her many animals she had throughout the years; Shadow, Breezie, Sally, Cinco, Ginger, Poppy, Angie, Yoshi, Mitzie, Annie, Little Fella, Cocoa, Buffy, Goldie, Pierre, Patches, Mitten, Fluffy, Smoky, Chan, Fifi, Tai Ling, Charlie the rabbit, her childhood dog Taffee, and cat Panda.

She is survived by her daughter, Leann (Casey) Sparks of Salina; grandchildren, Khayleigh-Huntyr (Thomas Schooler) Sparks of Moundridge, Ks., Kharringtyn-McKhynleigh and Kheestyn-McKhormyck Sparks of Salina; and great-grandson, Alec Schooler of Moundridge, Ks. She is also survived by her dog, Mollie, and cats Angel and Sadie.

Her wishes were to be cremated. Services will be at a later date.
