Patricia “Kay” Commerford, 72, of Salina, passed away Tuesday, May 10, 2022 in Butler, MO. Kay was born at St John’s hospital in Salina on September 7, 1949. On her 19th birthday, she married her soulmate, William Richard “Dick” Commerford at Sacred Heart Cathedral (September 7, 1968). She graduated Sacred Heart High School in 1967 in the same class as Dick. Kay went on to achieve an Associate’s Degree in Business Administration from Kansas Wesleyan University. Of the various positions she held, she most enjoyed working as a Volunteer Coordinator at Hospice of Salina for more than a decade. Her favorite hobby was antiquing. She rented spaces in various shops where she enjoyed selling her treasured finds.
Kay was held dear to all who knew her. Her radiant spirit brought joy to loved ones and strangers alike.
Survivors include her daughter Nicole Hilton (John), of Hume, MO; sisters Jackie (Don) Bailey, Giddings, TX and Rodgie (Jim) Hartness of Derby, KS.
She is preceded in death by her husband, William “Dick” Commerford; daughter Colleen Kay Commerford; grandparents, John and Jessie Hake; parents, Aubrey Wood and Mabel Hake.
Funeral Service will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, May 19, 2022 at Ryan Mortuary, with Fr. Keith Weber as celebrant. Visitation beginning at 10 a.m. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to Sacred Heart Jr./Sr. High School.
