Pauline Polly Horgan, 83, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 9:30 p.m., Thursday, March 15th, 2018 while in the company of family members suddenly, at home.
Polly was born in New York City, New York on July 30, 1934, a daughter of Rose (Carver) and Paul Martinez.
Polly attended the Tampa grade school Tampa, Florida and the Bronx New York Junior High and High School, New York City, New York.
She was of the Catholic Faith
Polly was a homemaker and she took great pride in providing for her family in this manner. She also worked for Road Ranger and Kit Manufacturing as an assembler, managed the McPherson Country Club, Elk’s Club, and owned and operated El Barrio Mexican Restaurant. She also worked for Culver’s Fish Farm and co-managed Pete’s Puddle.
Polly was a life member of the American Legion Post 24 Ladies Auxiliary, McPherson and was a proud supporter for the Juvenile Diabetes Association. Polly enjoyed being social and loved entertaining and hosting parties, dancing, and spending time with her friends and family. She was especially fond of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren always looking forward to the times they would share together.
Pauline “Polly” Martinez Richert was united in marriage to Kenneth Harold Horgan on September 16, 1957 at Salina, Kansas. Kenneth died on February 10, 1997.
She is survived by her children, Lisa A. Webb (Jimi Lovett), of McPherson, Kansas and Steven M. Horgan, of Plymouth, Minnesota; her special friend Brent Culver, of McPherson, Kansas; her 3 grandchildren, Mandy Potter, Jason Webb, and Zack Shook(Cheryl); her 7 great-grandchildren, Forrest Potter, Loren Potter, Thomas Potter, Stihl Webb, Natalie Shook, Lincoln Shook, and Chloe Shook; other relatives and a host of friends.
Polly was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Kenneth, her son Charles A. Horgan
Following Polly’s wishes, her body was willed to the University of Kansas School of Medicine. A time of remembrance and opportunity to visit with the family will be held on Saturday, March 24, 2018 from p.m. 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. at the V.F.W. Post 2715, McPherson.
