Ray Shackelford Jr., 72, of Salina, Kan., passed away Sunday, November 6, 2022. He was born March 31, 1950, in Montgomery, Ala. Ray was a Vietnam veteran serving in the United States Marine Corps.
Ray liked fishing; cooking BBQ and soul food; listening to his Oldies and Motown music; watching sports, especially his football teams, Alabama (Roll Tide) and Dallas Cowboys; and he loved spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include his wife of 40 years, Mary L. (Vinson) Shackelford; daughters, Alysia Rena Shackelford and Kimberly (Shackelford) Porter, both of Montgomery, and Teraclesha S. Shackelford and Mary Rachel Shackelford, both of Salina; brothers, Eugene Shackelford (Avis), of Montgomery, and Nathaniel Shackelford, of Salina; seven grandchildren; and one great-grandchild.
He is preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rachel (Jones) Shackelford; son, Roderick L. Shackelford; daughters, Debrah Shackelford and Ramona L. Shackelford; brothers, Glenn Shackelford and Charles Jones; and grandparents, Ola and Pop Willie Jones.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, November 10, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, with family present from 4-5. The funeral service will be at 10 a.m., Friday, November 11, at Ryan Mortuary, and streamed at https://youtu.be/QVNAa9rfXc4. Burial to follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina, with military honors provided by the United States Marine Corps.
