With the passing of Richard Nicklous Ayres on February 19, 2022 we lost a man with wit like no other, a heart of gold and a compassionate friend who was always there to help.
Rich was born on December 10, 1967 in Wichita, Kansas to Rodney Nicklous Ayres and Rose Marie (Davis) Schriner. He spent a good majority of his life growing up in Culver, Kansas and graduated from Tescott High School in 1986.
Shortly after high school he was blessed with two children from his first marriage. Roxane made Rich a proud Daddy’o in 1988 and his wrench turning buddy, Caleb, was born in 1990. He was a very proud father and even more so grandfather. He loved teaching his grandkids how to be ornery just like him, repaying his kids.
On August 26, 2021 Rich married Kimberly A. Ayres. They were joined in holy matrimony in the glass chapels in Eureka Springs. Kim was a blessing to Richard – she led him to his Lord and his Savior Jesus Christ and was baptized on January 31, 2021.
Richard is survived by his wife Kimberly, daughter Roxane Ayres, Son Caleb (Kayla) Ayres, Mother Rose (Delbert) Schriner, Sister Alice (Jeff) Wendt, Father Rodney (Susan) Ayres, Tracy (Ryan) Drenner, Sister Ginni Ayres, Dave (Stephanie) Ayres, and 9 grandchildren; Mykal, Donna, Rustin, Gage, Jaxson, John Carl, Layden, Axle and Gear. Rich was also blessed with 4 bonus children Daniel Mathews, Andrew (Anna) Mathews, Shauna Brookhouser, and Zane Warner and 6 bonus grandkids; Joshua, Kinzee, Kieran, Evelyn, Michael, and Genevieve.
Rich lived a full life. He was always making memories. In high school he and his buddies tested the limits of their cars, trucks, and motorcycles – giving his parents gray hair. As he became a parent he passed the same passion onto his kids – the love of cool cars and the need for speed – resulting in him skipping the gray hair phase and going straight to bald. When he joined Exline he got the opportunity to travel the US like he’d always wanted. If he wasn’t working, he was exploring the state he was in and sending a bunch of poorly angled selfies to loved ones at home. He was always doing what he could to bring a smile to the face of the ones he loved, even when he was miles away. His dexterity will be deeply missed.
A memorial service will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, March 3, 2022 at Emmanuel Salina, 1325 E Cloud St, Salina. Lunch will follow for those that want to join the family and share beloved memories of Rich.
Memorials can be made to the family in care of Ryan Mortuary at 137 N 8th St, Salina, KS 67401.
