Robert “Bob” L. McCollom, went home to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 1, 2020 at the Nicol Home in Glasco, Kansas. He was born in Bristow, Oklahoma on January 20, 1937 to Bernice and Cecil McCollom.
After the death of his father in 1940, his mother and grandmother moved their family to California where she met and married Bob’s stepfather Glen “Sandy” Meredith. Sandy taught Bob to weld. During one of their travels for the pipeline, the family came to Concordia, Kansas where Bob met Shirley Bulthaup. The two married in 1956 and began traveling for Bob’s job as a pipeline welder. His job took him throughout the United States. He was a proud member of Union 798 and recently received his 65 year membership pin. After retirement he enjoyed golfing with friends, being with his 1956 Concordia High School classmates and of course, spending time with his family.
Bob is survived by his brother, Doug Meredith. His four daughters: Sarah (Gary) Holbert, Concordia, KS; Susan (Tim) Dorman, Burlington, CO; Sandra (Scott) Utz, Parker, CO; Joanna (Bob) Runge, Newton, KS; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren: Amanda Blackwood, Ian, Peyton, Isabelle and Sawyer, Miltonvale, KS; Adam (Lacy) Holbert, Deekon, Rowdee and Knox, Concordia, KS; Bill (Patti) Weaver, Kreden, Sage, Graceyn, Aurora, KS; Chris (Lauren) Dorman, Kenley, Keagen, Benjamin, Burlington, CO; Meridith (Craig) Soehner, Audrey, Holden, Chloe, Emmett, Wray, CO; Chanci (Adam) Dopudja, Tristan, Amelia, Parker, CO; Samantha (Jeremy) Johnson, Lailah, Jaelynn, Aurora, CO; Brad Utz, Englewood, CO; Brian (Jodi) Runge, Lily, Owen and Jack, Newton, KS; Erin (Manny) Barocio, Elle and Judah, Newton, KS; Brett (Megan) Runge, Beth and Brie, Pittsburg, KS; Emily (Alec) Stahly, Kansas City, MO.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Shirley, his parents and stepfather and his sister, Glenda.
Family will greet friends at the Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home on Friday, February 7th from 3:00-6:00pm. Pastor Brett Runge will officiate a graveside service on May 23rd at 1:00 at Pleasant Hill Cemetery in Concordia, KS
