Roger Eugene Penrod, 72, passed away on Sunday, July 9, 2023, after a short illness.
He was born October 10, 1950 in Burlington, Kansas to Barnit E. Penrod and Bessie E. (Wagoner) Penrod.
Roger graduated from Victoria High School, Victoria, Texas in 1968. His early years were spent in Horton, Kansas. He served in Naval Intelligence during the Vietnam War from 1969-1973, and was stationed on the U.S. Constellation in Vietnam. After his naval service he came back to Kansas and went to Brown Mackie College graduating with a business degree. After many years in the trucking industry with Graves and ANR Freight, he went to work for Saline County Road and Bridge as a yard clerk. He retired from Saline County in 2015. In his retirement he enjoyed gardening, going to his grandkids events and just being with his family.
Roger was united in marriage to Marcia Rickers on October 8, 1977 in Fairbury, Nebraska. They were blessed with three children: Jared (Julia) Penrod, Streetsboro, Ohio, Hillary (Justin) Randa, Hays, Kansas and Laura (Levi) Prusia York, Nebraska and his two grandsons, Owen and Jack Randa.
Roger is survived by his wife, Marcia, his three children and their families and his mother, Bessie Penrod, Soldier, Kansas.
Roger was preceded in death by his father, Barnit Penrod and brother, David Penrod.
Christian services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, July 14, 2023 at Trinity Lutheran Church, 702 9th Street and West Crawford Ave, Salina, Kansas.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Trinity Lutheran Church.
