Rose M. Barnett

Rose Mendez Barnett age 80 died peacefully at her home on December 28, 2019 in Salina KS. She was born Febuary 11, 1939 in Stamford, TX to Juanita Castaneda and Toribio Mendez.

Rose is survived by her husband Charles Barnett; her children Patricia Fernandez (Art), Grace Cochran (Kenny), Michael Cedillo (Tammy) all of Salina, Victor Cedillo (Nancy) of Houston, TX. Jacque Barnett Royer (Kurt) of Great Bend, KS. Jago Blacksky of Salina, KS. 11 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren. Sister Ruperta Martinez, Josie Cordero (Ben) of Salina, Emma LaBlanc of Spring TX. Brothers Max Mendez (Mary) of Abilene, TX. Marshall Gallardo (Stella) of Stamford, TX. Sister in law Raylene Moyer (Bob) of Oklahoma City OK. and multiple nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her parents, her late husband Juan Cedillo, bothers Pedro Mendez, Juan Mendez, Jesus Mendez, Ted Gallardo, Thomas Gallardo, Raymond Gallardo, Esteban Gallardo, and sister Raymunda Mendez.

Rose was actively involved in Women’s Aglow, Red Hat Society, Delta Zeta Sorority, Soroptimist Club, and served as chairwoman of the US Army Family Support Group of the 425th Transportation in Salina.

Her family and friends will always remember her as a joyful loving lady who loved the Lord. She enjoyed the arts and crafts and at one time owned and operated a craft store in Salina. She worked at the Saline County Extension Agency teaching women life skills, and later retired from Beechcraft of Salina. One of Rose’s life passion was the mission fields. She ministered in the prisons of Mexico and street evangelism in Thailand as well as hosting missionaries in her home. She helped start a hispanic christian church in Salina. Rose and Chuck spent their lives together loving people and serving the Lord.

Memorial service will be at 11:00 a.m. January 4, 2020 at Emmanuel Foursquare Church in Salina. Family will recieve friends and family at Ryan Funeral Home Friday January 3, 2020 from 5:00-8:00 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Kindred Hospice or Alzheimer’s Support Group.
