Rosellen Marie Lindblade, 86, of McPherson, Kansas passed away at 3:17 a.m., Sunday, May 24th, 2020 peacefully at Brookdale, McPherson.
Rosellen was born in McPherson, Kansas on March 16, 1934, a daughter of Frank Martin and Edythe Lenore (Johnson) Straka.
Rosellen attended Lincoln Elementary School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1952. She then attended Emporia State College for 2 years receiving her teaching certificate.
She was a member of New Gottland Covenant Church, where she taught Sunday School and played piano for many years
Rosellen taught at Concordia grade school for 1 year, Conway, Kansas for a 1 1/2 years, taught preschool at the McPherson Covenant Church for 8 1/2 years. She was also the Mail handler at the Mail Desk for Farmer’s Alliance Insurance Company for 11 years before retiring.
She was a Charter member of the Happy Homemakers EHU.
Rosellen enjoyed reading, listening to music, playing the piano, doing handwork, being a Den Mother for Cub Scouts and Campfire Girls, volunteering at the Opera House and Save-N-Share, traveling, and spending time with her family.
Rosellen M. Straka was united in marriage to Charles Roger Lindblade on July 10, 1955 at the First Congregational United Church of Christ, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson. This union was blessed with the birth of three children, two sons and a daughter, Michael, Kenneth and Judith.
She is survived by her loving husband Charles Lindblade, McPherson, Kansas; her children, Michael Owen Lindblade, of McPherson, Kansas, Kenneth Dean Lindblade, of McPherson, Kansas, Judith Ellen Moore and her husband Steve, of Olathe, Kansas; her sisters, Marlene L. Thomas and her husband Bill, of Ann Arbor, Michigan and Frances E. Oltman and her husband Marlo, of Buhler, Kansas.
She is also survived by her grandchildren, Lindsey Moore, Abbie Geissler(Tyler), Grant Moore and great-grandson, Noah Geissler
She was preceded in death by her parents; her sisters Elizabeth Straka and Margaret L. Padgett.
A private family graveside service will be held on May 28, 2020 at McPherson Cemetery, with Reverend Dan Perry officiating.
