Samuel Lee Haggard, 71, of Salina, passed away Saturday, November 25th, 2023.
Samuel was born in Flora, Mississippi on February 15, 1952, a son of Deola (Hopkins) and Sam Haggard.
He was inducted into the Salina Central Hall of Fame for his 1971 Basketball Team and was an avid sports fan and fisherman.
Sam served in the United States Air Force.
Survivors include his wife, Julie Cessna; two daughters, Samantha Haggard, Kara Haggard; two step daughters, Ashley Owens, Ericka Henley; two step sons, Willie Henley, and Anthony Bishop; sister, Katie Thomas, all of Salina; and brother, Douglas Thompson.
He is also survived by grandchildren, Lariah Graves, Teaira Graves, Aiyanah Laury, Oakley Michels; 1 great granddaughter, Lena Graves; niece, Edna Thomas; nephews, Ernest Haggard, Jim Thomas; great niece, Chanel Thomas; and many other extended family members.
Sam is preceded in death by his parents; wife, Roxanne Haggard; sisters, Bettie J. Thomas, Stella Harvey, Doretha Brown, Joanna Haggard; brothers, Henry Haggard, Jessie Haggard, Willie “Lewis” Haggard; and nephew, Nathan Haggard.
Visitation will be from 5:00 pm – 8:00 pm, Thursday, November 30th, at Carlson-Geisendorf Funeral Home, Salina.
Homegoing Celebration will be at 10:00 am, Friday, December 1st at St. John’s Missionary Baptist Church, Salina. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina.
