Sandra Sue Sullivan, 78, passed away September 8, 2023, at her home in Prescott Valley, AZ. She was born November 24, 1944 to Melvin and Lucile (Bosch) VonFange, at their farm home east of Lincoln, KS. Her father died in a boating accident on the Saline River when Sandra was two and a half years old.
Sandra attended elementary school at St. John Lutheran Parochial School. She graduated from Lincoln High School, Lincoln, KS. After graduating high school, she moved to Wichita, KS to attend cosmetology school.
While in Wichita, she met & married George Pliakis. They had a daughter together, Mary. Shortly after Mary was born, they moved to New York.
Sandra left New York and moved to Salina, KS where she went to work in a hair salon as a hairdresser.
She married Keith Sullivan on June 27, 1970. Soon thereafter, he adopted her daughter, Mary. Keith & Sandra were later blessed with a son, Eric.
Sandra worked at the Western Auto Distribution Center and then at the Salina Public Library. She truly enjoyed working at the library, as she had a great love for reading. In 1996, Keith and Sandra retired to a home they had built for them in Prescott Valley, AZ.
Sandra was preceded in death by her husband of 52 years, her parents, her stepfather, Arthur Liggett, her grandparents, and her brother and sister-in-law, Clarence and Deloise VonFange.
Survivors include: Her daughter, Mary (Dean) Aebischer & son, Eric Sullivan. Grandchildren: Bekki (Mitchell) Scanlan, Andrew Aebischer (Jenni) and Alec Aebischer. Great grandchildren: Orrin & Arya Scanlan, and a brother, Larry (Quenana) Liggett.
The family will be receiving visitors from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, September, 19th at Ryan Mortuary.
Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. on September 20th 2023, at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, KS. Interment will follow at Gypsum Hill Cemetery, Salina.
