Shirley Ann Zamrzla, 84, passed away Sunday, November 10, 2019, at the Communities of Wildwood, Joplin, Missouri. She was born January 10, 1935, to Charles and Ruby Smith in Joplin and attended Joplin High School. In 1952 she married Bobby J. Young and they had four children, Teresa, Timothy, John, and Jeffrey. After divorcing, she later married Lawrence V. Zamrzla December 16, 1968, and celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary recently. They had one son, Tony. Shirley and Larry made their home in Salina, Kansas for many years until 2010 when they moved to Carl Junction, Missouri.
Survivors include her daughter, Tere Witters (Lynn), sons , John Young (Debra), Jeff Zamrzla, and Tony Zamrzla; 12 grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren; her sister, Sally Jarrett and brother, Steve Smith; her sisters-in-laws, Virginia Clapp, Jeanette Zamrzla, Nadine Smith, and Donna Smith; many nieces and nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her son, Tim; her parents; her sister, Sandy Hood; and brother, Charles “Chuck” Smith; her parents-in-law, Edith and Anthony Zamrzla and brothers-in-law, Bob Jarrett, Gene Clapp, and Bruce Zamrzla.
Shirley enjoyed spending time with her family, crocheting, sewing, and collecting angels and playing with their dogs.
Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m., October 8, 2021, at Roselawn Memorial Park Cemetery, Salina where her ashes will be interred along with her husband’s and son’s.
