Stanley G. Bruce

Stanley Garland Bruce, 67, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 7:51 a.m., Monday, January 6th, 2020 while in the company of family members, at Harry Hynes Memorial Hospice, St. Francis, Wichita, Kansas.

Stanley was born in McPherson, Kansas on February 15, 1952, a son of Doris Elizabeth (Clark) Bruce and Ralph Arland Bruce Sr.

Stan attended Lincoln grade school, Park School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas in 1970. He then attended and graduated from Garden City Community College, and then graduated from Kansas State University, Manhattan, Kansas with a Bachelor’s degree in Business.

Through the years Stan worked as a salesman for Lever Brothers Corp, Coleman International, and later for Coleman Canvas Division, Full Vision of Newton, Kansas, and retired as General Manager of the Custom Rollforming Corp, of Moundridge, Kansas in 2019.

Stan was a member of the ATO Fraternity and the N.R.A. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing, hunting, sailing, gardening. Stan was a grilling master and loved spending time with his family and friends.

Stanley G. Bruce was united in marriage to Laura L Burgett on August 7, 1976 at the First Presbyterian Church, McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in Manhattan, Kansas. This union was blessed with the birth of two children, a son and a daughter, Todd and Sarah. In 1984 they moved to McPherson.

He is survived by his loving and devoted wife of over forty-three years, Laura Bruce, of McPherson, Kansas; his children, Todd A. Bruce and wife Saman Wijesooryia, of Atlanta, Georgia and Sarah L. Boggs and husband Gerad, of Manhattan, Kansas; his siblings, Faye Ann Terry and husband Harris, of McPherson, Kansas, Ralph A. Bruce, Jr., of Seward, Nebraska, Anita Lawrenz and husband Rick, of McPherson, Kansas, and Charles Bruce and wife Kay, of Wichita, Kansas; his sister-in-law, Saundra Bruce, of McPherson, Kansas; his two favorite grandchildren, Haley Boggs and Hannah Boggs; many nieces and nephews, other relatives and a host of friends.

Stan was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Gary Bruce; and a sister-in-law Mary Bruce.

Memorial service will be held at First United Methodist Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 17th, 2020 with Reverend Emily Cannon officiating.
