Sue Ann Vignery

Sue Ann Vignery, 86, Concordia, Kansas, passed away at NCK Medical Center on November 13, 2024. Born on June 23, 1938, in Emerson, Iowa to Harlan “Woody” and Helen (Hurley) Woods, she was the middle child between siblings Donna and Billy David.

Her family moved to Glasco for a short time and then to Concordia. She attended Notre Dame Catholic grade school and then Concordia High School where she was a cheerleader, graduating in 1956.

Her parents owned the West Side Inn Café where she worked for a time, before working as a Southwestern Bell telephone operator and then at the Bon Marche clothing store in downtown Concordia.

She married Kenneth Vignery on January 4, 1958, at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church. Later that year they welcomed their first of four, KC. He was followed by Juli, David, and Bryan.

Sue was a member of Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church where she was involved in different ways, including serving funeral luncheons. Each year she volunteered at election poll places. She enjoyed bowling and was a good supporter of her kids and grandkids’ sporting events. Most of all, she was a great mom and always put kids first.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Vignery; her parents; brother, Billy David Woods; and sister, Donna (Woods) Cool.

She will be missed by her children, K.C. Vignery (Cindy) of Concordia, KS, Juli Andrews of Shawnee, KS, David Vignery (Janelle) of Lawrence, KS, and Bryan Vignery (Stephanie) of Spring Hill, KS; grandchildren, Brent Vignery (Rosalina) and children Dexter, Sylvia, and Lydia, Blake Vignery, Brice Vignery (Hannah) and children Cooper and Hudson, Blair Vignery (Connor) and daughter Ella, Brandi Stacy (Ryan) and children Mara and Quinn, Kendra Voelker (Will) and children Colton, Ava, and Lincoln, Stephanie Deal (Bryan) and children Braden, Macee, and Liam, John Vignery (Sarah) and children Audrey and Arley, Kate Langley (Sam) and children Alaina , Adeline and Kylee Vignery, and Joshua Vignery.

Memorial services will be held at Our Lady of Perpetual Help Catholic Church on Friday, November 22, 2024, at 10:30 a.m. with Fr. Joseph Kieffer officiating with burial following at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia, KS. Visitation will be held at Chaput Buoy Funeral Home on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 1:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. with a rosary at 5:30 p.m. and family will greet friends from 6-8 pm.
