It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Timothy Park Barr on December 17, 2024. While we are heartbroken by his sudden departure, we find comfort in knowing he was surrounded by his immediate family as he transitioned from this world. We take solace in the promise that we will see him again, his joyful spirit shining and that unforgettable smile lighting up the heavens.
Tim was born on a special Mother’s Day, May 14, 1972, in Salina, Kansas, to Jean and Bill (William) Barr. Jean often said he was the perfect Mother’s Day gift, a sentiment that rang true throughout his life. From the beginning, Tim was adored by his family, including his two older brothers, Chris and Ross, who he looked up to with great affection. Whether tagging along in childhood adventures or sharing stories and laughs as adults, the bond they shared was unbreakable.
Tim graduated from Salina Central High School in 1990, where he formed lifelong friendships and began a journey filled with passions and pursuits that made his life so vibrant. He attended Cloud County Community College, where he played collegiate golf, and later Kansas State University. Tim’s life took him from Manhattan, where he worked alongside Chris, to Kansas City, and finally back to his hometown of Salina, where he found his greatest love and partner, Heather Doughman Barr. Together, they built a life full of laughter, adventure, and cherished memories, especially after welcoming their beloved son, Mit. For Tim, Mit was his world, his pride, and his inspiration.
Tim had a zest for life that left an indelible mark on everyone he met. His joy was contagious, and his passions were as unique as the man himself. He never missed a chance to catch a live concert—especially if Phish was playing—or to escape to the Colorado mountains for camping trips with Heather and Mit. He delighted in simple pleasures: lounging with his dogs, cheering on Mit’s artistic creations, donning his favorite tie-dye shirts, or spontaneously breaking into a hilarious Michael Jackson dance with his son. Tim brought warmth, humor, and a carefree spirit into every space he entered.
As we imagine Tim entering Heaven, we’re sure it was to the soundtrack of his favorite Phish songs, with angels welcoming him in tie-dye and joy. His light, laughter, and love will remain with us always.
To celebrate Tim’s incredible life, we invite you to wear your favorite tie-dye or Phish shirt and reflect on the wonderful memories he gave us. Though his time here was far too short, his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
Gone too soon, but never forgotten—Timothy Park Barr will forever be our ray of sunshine and our reminder to live life with a smile.
Memorial service will be 10 a.m. Saturday, December 21, 2024 at St. Mary Queen of the Universe Catholic Church with Fr. Kevin Weber as celebrant. Inurnment will be at a later date in Roselawn Memorial Park.
