Velma Janice Perez, 80, passed away Saturday, December 4, 2021. Velma was born in Ellsworth, Kansas on March 16, 1941, daughter of the late Rudolph and Hulda Nienke.
Survivors include her husband Dale Perez, of Gypsum; daughters: Daphne Nusz (Jeff) of Augusta, Dayla Wallick of Gypsum, Diana Pomeroy of Topeka, Danielle Retzlaff (Larry) of Bentley; step daughter: Trina Perez of Topeka; 8 grandchildren: Dayton, Payton, Chandler, Dawson, Deacon, Lorenzo, Koby, Nicholas; and sister: Lois Holtz.
She was preceded in death by: brother: Leonard Nienke, and sisters: Doris Peterman, Betty Ann Pflughoeft, Bernita Snyder, Edith Kohls, Hulda Bricker; and grandson: Corbin.
Velma was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church, a Girl Scout leader, daycare provider, and homemaker.
Visitation will be held Wednesday, December 8, 2021 at Ryan Mortuary, Salina, Kansas from 4 to 8 p.m. with family present from 6 to 8 p.m. Funeral services will be Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Christ the King Lutheran Church 111 W. Magnolia Rd., Salina, Kansas at 10:30 a.m. with internment at Kanopolis Cemetery at 2 p.m.
