Victor L. Bohling, age 91, of Concordia, KS, passed away on Thurs., Feb. 8, 2018 at Mt. Joseph Senior Village, Concordia, KS. He was born on May 28, 1926 on a farm in Sand Creek Twp. near Meade, KS to George C. & Ida G. (Buck) Bohling.
Victor graduated from Meade High School. He served in the US Army in the infantry as a scout in the Southwest Pacific during WWII where he received several campaign medals. After his service, Vic graduated from Kansas State University, where he was a member of Beta Sigma Psi Lutheran fraternity. He married Evelyn M. Zwonitzer at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Topeka on Dec. 18, 1949. She preceded him on Jan. 1, 2009. Vic and Evelyn moved to Concordia in 1956. After graduating from K-State, Vic taught a veteran’s class in Ashland, KS and then worked as a field man for Federal Crop Ins. before working as a claims adjuster for Farm Bureau Ins. in Concordia for 33 years until his retirement. He was a member of the Concordia Lutheran Church, a life member of the American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588; DAV & several other organizations.
Victor is survived by his daughters; Terry Caldwell (Randy), Osborne & Vicki Reiter (Jim), Concordia; granddaughters; Jody Dorman, Wichita & Nan Caldwell, Aurora, CO; great granddaughters, Terran & Raya Caldwell, Aurora, CO & several nieces, nephews, relatives & friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Evelyn; son, Larry; his parents; brother, Edgar Bohling & sisters, Stella Gray, Mabel Bohling, Georgia Ruhl & Verna Rollins.
Funeral services will be 10:00 am, Tues., Feb. 13, 2018 at Concordia Lutheran Church, Concordia with Jim Winter, PMA officiating. Burial will follow at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Concordia with Military Honors by American Legion Post #76 & VFW Post #588. Visitation will be from 12-9 pm, Monday, Feb. 12, 2018 at Chaput-Buoy Funeral Home, Concordia.
