Wesley E. Teel Jr. passed away May 28, 2021, at his home in Salina, Kansas at the age of 72. He was born to Wesley Sr. and Betty (Herron) Teel on December 1, 1948, in Salina, Kansas. Wes grew up in Salina, served in the US Army and had a long career in Law Enforcement and retired as the Security Supervisor from K-State University-Salina.
Wes was preceded in death by his parents and his brothers Doyle and William “James”. He is survived by his sisters Sharon (Glen) Barnum, Karen (Dennis) Krier and Carol (Mike) Hirsch and sister in laws Shelly Teel and Debbie Teel. Wes prided himself on being the uncle to nine nephews and three nieces as well as their many children.
Wes had many special friends in his life. Many in the law enforcement community in Salina knew him as “Old Man River”. They knew he often was watching and guarding their calls hoping to send them home safely. Shelly and John in dispatch always knew he was listening. He will also be missed very much by his dear friends Kip, Carol, Maxine and Eddie.
The family will honor Wesley with a memorial service at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, June 5, 2021, at Ryan Mortuary, 137 N. Salina, Kansas 67401, with internment to follow at Highland Cemetery, New Cambria.
In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the SPD Excellence Fund and may be sent in care of the mortuary.
