William “Bill” Andrew Giannos of Salina, Kansas passed away on March 25, 2020.
Bill was born at Highland Park, Illinois on September 4, 1929.
He graduated from Morgan Park Military Academy in 1949 and Beloit College, Beloit, Wisconsin with a BA in Art in 1954. While at Beloit, Bill played in varsity football, was in the Sigma Alpha Epsilon Fraternity and met and dated his first wife, Suzanne Schmitz. He was a 1st Lt in the US Marine Corps, stationed at Twentynine Palms, California. Bill worked for the Kansas City Star Newspaper and was Art Director for the Star Sunday Magazine from 1970 – 1980. In later years, Bill worked in the men’s department at Dillard’s in Salina, Kansas. Bill was a graphic artist as well as a fine artist and had many talents including painting, sculpture, stained glass and free hand sketching. He was an avid jazz fan, ice skater, skier and traveler and forever proud of his Greek heritage.
Bill was preceded in death by his parents Dina and Andrew Giannos.
He is survived by his children Steven Giannos(Amanda) and Catherine Nothern (Nathan); his grandchildren Kyle Koochel, Clayton Koochel and great grandchild Lynn Giannos Nothern. As he always said, “Let the good times roll!”
Cremation has been chosen.
Interment will take place at Mountain View Cemetery, San Bernadino, California.
