William “Bill” Meredith, age 80, passed away on Tuesday, August 18, 2020 at Sunset Nursing Home, Concordia, KS. He was born on Feb. 13, 1940 in South Bend, Indiana to Howard E. & Beulah M. (Fox) Meredith.
Bill graduated from Mishawka High School in Indiana and joined the U.S. Marine Corps. He attended the University of Indiana an earned a Bachelor’s degree and later a Master’s degree in Criminal Justice.
He married Janet K. Esckelson on Jan. 29, 1965 in Indiana. They moved to Concordia, KS in 1982. He taught criminal justice and computer classes at Cloud County Community College until his retirement. He served as a Pastor and they were missionaries in Turkey, Turkmenistan, Bulgaria and Kazakhstan.
Bill was a member of the American Legion Post #76 and served on the International Mission Board.
He is survived by his wife, Janet, Concordia; daughters, Kim Mills (Travis), Ames & Tina McManus (Rob), Concordia; son, Michael Meredith (Shari), Hays; foster daughter, Youlanda Willingham; 11 grandchildren & 6 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, 3 brothers and a sister.
It was Bill’s wishes to be cremated and the family will hold a Celebration of Life service at a later date. The family suggests memorials to Solomon Valley Hospice in care of the funeral home. For online condolences, please visit www.chaputbuoy.com.
