William Joseph “Bill” Sheets, 88, of McPherson, Kansas, passed away at 10:10 p.m., Sunday, January 21st, 2018 while in the company of family members, at Cedars Health Care Center.

William was born in Blackwell, Oklahoma on August 9, 1929, a son of L. Mildred (Hess) and Joseph E. Sheets.

Bill attended Washington Grade School, McPherson Junior High and graduated from McPherson High School, McPherson, Kansas. Then attended and graduated from McPherson College, McPherson, Kansas with a degree in Business.

He was a member of Christian Science.

Willian J. Sheets was united in marriage to Margaret A. Darrah on August 12, 1950 at the Congregational Church in McPherson, Kansas. The young couple established their first home together in McPherson, Kansas.

He is survived by his wife Margaret Sheets, of McPherson, Kansas; his children Brent Sheets and his wife Debra, of McPherson, Kansas, Mary Spilman and her husband Brad, of Shawnee, Kansas, and his sibling Cara Kean, of Claremont, California; his grandchildren Chad Spilman, Andy Spilman, Allison Wade, Kim Veer, T.J. Dearing and Tommy Dearing; and his 14 great-grandchildren.

Bill was preceded in death by his parents and sister Donna Chilson.

Visitation will be held on Friday, January 26, 2018 from 5:00 p.m to 7:00 p.m. at Glidden – Ediger Funeral Chapel.

Memorial service will be held at the First Christian Church, McPherson, Kansas, at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, January 27th, 2018 with Pastor Lynn Scott officiating.
