UPDATE: One Person Deceased in House Fire

The Salina Fire Department responded to a residential house fire at 119 S. Columbia early on Thursday, March 20th. At approximately 4:20 a.m., emergency crews were dispatched following reports of a residential structure fire.

Upon arrival, firefighters encountered heavy fire conditions, with the rear of the house fully engulfed and significant fire spread throughout the interior of the residence. Crews worked quickly to contain the blaze and conduct search operations.

One victim was found inside the home. Despite rescue efforts, the individual did not survive the injuries sustained in the fire, the identity of the victim is being withheld at this time.

The Salina Fire Department, in coordination with local authorities, continue working to determine the circumstances that led to the blaze, the fire remains under investigation at this time.

Salina Fire Department (SFD) Chief Shane Pearson tells KSAL News on Thursday morning at 4:20 am, crews responded to a house fire at 119 S. Columbia Ave.

Upon arrival, SFD discovered the home was fully engulfed.

One person died on the scene. There was no one else inside the home.

The investigation is ongoing.
