Salina Downtown is preparing to shine bright for the holidays this year.
According to Salina Downtown Inc. a group of dedicated holiday fanatics, local artists, and downtown business owners, led by board member Mindi Davidson, have all come together to ensure that this year’s downtown will be bright.
In August, Salina Downtown was awarded $3,000 from the Dane G. Hansen foundation community grant fund at the Greater Salina Community Foundation.
“We were very excited to recieve this gracious grant. With the addition of these funds and with the help of the city of Salina, downtown holiday decorations are a reality this year” said Penny Bettles stated, the managing director of Salina Downtown Inc.
Several donations were received from downtown business owners and holiday enthusiasts throughout the community as well.
This year they will roll out phase 1, which will will include commercial grade lights with 5 foot wreaths placed along the three large crosswalks on Santa Fe. There will be sixteen 6 ft. banners installed along the the four major intersections of Santa Fe, Iron, Walnut, and Mullberry.
“Our committee is very excited about the phases of decorating, we have come up with to create a festive atmosphere in downtown Salina over the next couple of years. Now we just need the funds to implement them.” Said Mindi Davis of First Bank Kansas.
Fundraising has begun for Phase 2 to be implemented in the 2017 holiday season. If you are interested in making a donation please mail check payable to:
