A woman is scammed out of $500 over the telephone.
Salina Police report that a 33-year-old woman contacted them after she realized she had been fooled by thieves. Police say back on New Year’s Day she was contacted by a person who said they were with a firm called, “Fair Wind Financial Services.”
The person went on to tell her she would be able to receive a $10,000 loan if she could pay 5-percent up front to secure it.
The woman used Western Union to send someone in Ontario, Canada $500.
She called police when she could no longer make contact with the person.
