Rain, Sleet, Snow to Impact Area

A wet wintry mix of rain, sleet, and snow could impact travel in parts of Kansas late Friday into early Saturday.

According to the National Weather Service, rain will gradually change over to snow Friday evening and Friday night from north to south, persisting through Saturday morning. Wet and slushy accumulations will range from 3 to 5 inches, with locally higher amounts, across generally the northern half of Kansas, to around one inch or less across far southern Kansas.

The agency says impacts will include:

  • Untreated roads, bridges, parking lots, and sidewalks may become slushy/slick.
  • Slower travel during the Friday evening commute and for any weekend travelers Friday night through Saturday morning. Impacts along I-70 will extend beyond Kansas.

A winter weather advisory is in effect from 6:00 Friday night through noon Saturday.
