Police are investigating a theft by deception case that originated on Craigslist.

According to Lt. Scott Siemsen, someone created a bogus ‘house for rent’ ad on Craigslist, for a home that is currently listed for sale in south Salina.

Police say 19-year-old Tremayne Jackson, 18-year-old Justin Natal and 20-year-old Cameron Curry all of Salina, contacted the thief through the website and sent $500 via Western Union to secure the property.

The deception occurred between April 23rd and April 30th.

The owner of the home was not using the website to advertise and was unaware of the scam.
